ART - Lighting Artist

Sucker Punch Productions is looking for an artistic rock star to help drive and deliver engaging, visually stunning locations in our upcoming project, Ghost of Tsushima. The ideal candidate will have an expert knowledge of light and shadow, color theory and strong attention to detail.


  • 3+ years of experience as a Lighting Artist within the games industry
  • Solid understanding of lighting fundamentals, composition and color theory
  • Experience with physically based rendering tools, shaders and materials
  • Previous experience with deferred rendering pipelines
  • Proficiency with lighting techniques such as; light probes, dynamic GI, etc.
  • Understanding of HDR
  • Experience using post-process toolsets (LUTs, color/tint, bloom, DoF, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of Maya
  • Strong understanding of lighting and industry vocabulary
  • Self-driven team player with a passion for supporting and enabling others
  • Good communication, organizational and time management


  • Photography experience
  • Cinematic staging and lighting
  • Previous PS4 development and performance profiling experience


  • Author location and mission lighting that supports the artistic direction while supporting gameplay design
  • Contribute to the development of lighting techniques and processes used to achieve a product’s visual style
  • Collaborate with Technical Artists to ensure consistent technology and content
  • Help develop and enforce lighting creation process and technical guidelines through documentation and communication
  • Advance lighting quality through pursuit and development of improved content creation methods
